Zenith Minerals Limited (ASX: ZNC) has secured 100% ownership in Spencer and Wilson Salt Flat lithium brine exploration projects in central western Nevada, USA (Figure 1).
Figure 1. Location of the Spencer and Wilson Salt Flat lithium brine exploration projects in central western Nevada
The Spencer Project is located in Lander County, Nevada near the lithium production area of Silver Peak-Clayton Valley. The project is underlain by a sequence of sedimentary formations and has fault structures similar to the Silver Peak deposit located approximately 170km southwest of the Spencer Project.
The Wilson Salt Flat Project is located in Nye County, Nevada approximately 140km east of Silver Peak-Clayton Valley. Initial surface sediment samples taken by the company include enriched lithium of up to 192ppm and geophysical modelling has identified structures that are consistent with the lithium bearing brine deposits in the adjacent Clayton Valley region.
Groundwater exploration drilling programs are required to determine if a reservoir of brine containing lithium within the sedimentary host basin would be economically viable.
Next steps include infill surface sampling and ground based geophysical surveying of the Spencer and Wilson Salt Flat Projects.
